Wicked Wanstead and Wonderful Walthamstow!

On 9th September, I Love Dolly Jewellery will be at the Wanstead Makers Market as part of the Wanstead Fringe Festival. Exciting!

You may or may not have been to a Wanstead Makers Market before, but if you have, you will know it is bursting with creative vibes and full of individual crafts folk, artisans and makers selling high quality, unique and bespoke wares. You will find that perfect special gift, or just treat yourself! Check out my shop for examples of the kind of handmade jewellery I sell. Other artists belonging to the Wanstead Makers Group include Ania Perkowska (pottery), Hiffycakes (handbags), Jewelled Buddha (scarves), Ros Shiers (dog portraits) and Cards by Fern, and many more. It always makes me feel very proud to be surrounded by such excellent designers and makers from and around East London.  

So if I haven't tempted you already, the market is part of the Wanstead Fringe Festival which runs between the 9th and 16th September and includes a Jumble Trail, comedy, music, talks, walks, and the Wanstead outdoor cinema (known as the Wanstead Kinema). We just need the sunshine to take part!

Aside from Wanstead doing its bit, Waltham Forest has applied to be Borough of Culture in 2019 (see more here). This bid is a testament to the creativity flowing all around the area! For example, I am part of the E17 Designers who showcase individual artists and makers at their markets, fairs and pop ups in locality. Over the last few years the 'Stow (as it is affectionately known) has become something quite amazing and is seen as an artistic hub. My studio is based in Chingford and it is great to be within soldering distance of these amazingly progressive districts.

Without those organising these events (Rosie, Carolyn, amongst others - you know what you do!), these brilliant makers wouldn't have the opportunities to flourish, nor would consumers have the choice they do to buy from such specialist crafts people.
